The BMW R nineT features one of the most visually distinctive engines in modern motorcycling. However, the factory plastic air filter box often interrupts the clean flow of the motorcycle’s side profile.
 
The JSK CNC Air Filter Side Covers were developed to address this area by creating a more cohesive transition between the engine, fuel tank, and rear section of the motorcycle. Rather than drawing attention to the airbox itself, the design focuses on refining the overall proportions and visual balance of the motorcycle.
 
Purpose
Designed specifically for the BMW R nineT platform, the JSK CNC Air Filter Side Covers help conceal the bulky appearance of the factory air filter housing while creating a cleaner and more purposeful side profile.
 
Working together with the JSK CNC Alternator Cover, the side covers visually connect the front and rear sections of the motorcycle, creating a more unified appearance from every viewing angle.
Rather than functioning as a standalone accessory, the covers were designed as part of a larger design language intended to enhance the overall character of the BMW boxer platform.
Design
 
The design takes inspiration from flowing aerodynamic forms rather than traditional flat side panels.
Every surface, transition, and contour was carefully developed to complement the unique proportions of the BMW boxer engine while introducing a sense of movement throughout the motorcycle’s side profile.
 
The fin-inspired elements extend rearward from the engine area, creating a visual connection toward the tail section and establishing a consistent design language across the motorcycle.
From close inspection to a full side view, the covers add depth, refinement, and a more intentional appearance without overwhelming the original design of the motorcycle.
 
Construction
Each side cover is precision-machined from solid aluminum billet using CNC manufacturing processes.
The design incorporates both visible and hidden machining details, reflecting the same philosophy applied throughout JSK’s CNC product line. Tool paths, surface transitions, and finishing details are intentionally arranged to create a component that feels sculpted rather than simply manufactured.
The result is a component that delivers both visual impact and premium craftsmanship while maintaining precise fitment and durability for long-term use.
