Project Argent Corundum

Project Argent Corundum is based on a Honda Rebel 250 that we stripped down and customized to become a lightweight playful motorcycle with a tribute to youth. The motorcycle originally weighed 141kg/ 331lbs and we trimmed it by about 23kg/50lbs! Another goal for this project was to keep the original engine and frame and customize everything else with parts sourced from Taiwan; we achieved to source approximately 80% from there. Using parts from Taiwan was a decision to pay emotional tribute and respect to the earlier 25 years of my life that was raised in Taiwan. With this project, we found there are lots of quality parts from Taiwan. Regardless if it was for aesthetics, mechanical design, or engineering, the parts and professional services we used all have roots from Taiwan.

The front shocks for Project Argent Corundum is an OEM part for the SYM T1. It is connected to the frame with a WRRP triple tree. In order to use a BMX bike carbon fiber handle bar, we commissioned Black Smith Co. to make an upper triple tree to fit with the WRRP triple tree. We also installed WRRP rearsets, and exhaust. For the break system, we utilized Frando master cylinder, clutch cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, radius caliper, with PSR fluid reservoirs. To make the engine breath a little better we slipped on an SIMOTA air filter.

We commissioned our favorite custom painters AirRunner for the paint job, and once again a beautiful job. We wanted to make it a budget friendly build, so this time the tank is not hand made but a slightly modified tank sourced from a Royal Enfield. The reason we chose that tank is similar to the number plate and headlights; the basic design elements of the bike is cube or rectangular and the tank followed the theme. Another reason why we chose the tank is because it can hold 17 liters/4.7 gallons. With that much fuel, you can basically ride it for days on end before your next fill-up.

The rear shock is a custom tailored Gears Racing HILL-2 Plus. The rims are from the Kymco Quannon 150 and aluminum rear swingarm is also made for Quannon 150 developed by Black Smith Co. We used Maxxis 17 inch flat track tires for the general riding setup. Then for sand use, we put on Continental TKC80 tires from Germany.

Project Argent Corundum was intended to be a lightweight easygoing motorcycle that does not give you the feeling of burden, only happiness. Often we pursue the thrill of acceleration of a large displacement motorcycle and we found sometimes it feels great to get on a small bike for fun riding. Project Argent Corundum we believe hits the spot. It’s also a versatile little bike. It can be your little motorcycle to take for a free ride at a dry lake, use it as a racetrack pit bike, run local errands, or have a bike to take your board and go surfing. Whatever the pleasure is, it does not give any burden, only happiness.
